Herringbone & Parquet Floors

Herringbone, chevron, basketweave and parquet patterns turn a floor into a design feature. They need much more planning than straight planks: the starting line, the cuts and the borders all have to be exact or the pattern drifts across the room.

We install herringbone and parquet floors for homes across Middle Tennessee, including Nashville foyers, dining rooms and kitchens. We lay out the pattern from the center of the space, install it over a flat subfloor and finish borders and transitions so the pattern looks deliberate.

What you get

Done right, from the first walk-through

01

Pattern layout from the center

Lines are set so the design is balanced in the room.

02

Precision cutting

Tight miters and clean pattern edges.

03

Borders and inlays

Straight-plank borders or inlays frame the pattern.

04

Flat subfloor required

Patterns show every dip, so the subfloor is prepared first.

FAQ

Common questions about herringbone & parquet

What is the difference between herringbone and chevron?

Herringbone planks are cut square and meet at an offset, forming a broken zigzag. Chevron planks are cut at an angle and meet in a clean V.

Is a patterned floor harder to maintain?

No. Care is the same as any hardwood floor.

Can I use herringbone in just one room?

Yes. Many owners use it in an entry or dining room and plain planks elsewhere.
