Hardwood Sanding & Staining

Stain color depends on the wood species, the sanding and the finish over it. A sample card never looks exactly like your floor, which is why we test stain on your wood before committing to a color.

We sand and stain hardwood floors for homes across Middle Tennessee, including Nashville remodels and new site-finished floors. We use dust containment, work through sanding grits in order, apply the stain evenly and protect it with a finish that suits your family.

FAQ

Common questions about sanding & staining

Can I make a dark floor lighter?

Sanding to bare wood allows lighter stains. Very dark floors may need deeper sanding, and the wood species affects the result.

What is the difference between water-based and oil-based finish?

Water-based finishes dry fast, stay clear and have less odor. Oil-based finishes add a warmer amber tone and are very durable.

How many coats of finish are applied?

Usually two to three, depending on the product and the use of the room.
